Like many contractors, I used a variety of paper ledger and manual spreadsheet systems to keep track of job scheduling, resource allocation, and other key factors necessary to manage the business and forecast profits. Although the system worked, it was labor intensive, confusing, and prone to human error because of the need to continually enter and re-enter information to keep it updated. Furthermore, in order to create reports for analysis, all information had to be manually compiled from each system in order to get a complete picture of the business.
Knowing there had to be a better way, I set out to develop a complete information management system that would streamline operations, clarify organizational goals, and make information easily and instantly available for reporting and decision-making. Drawing on over 24 years of experience in the construction industry, I had the expertise and knowledge necessary to conceive the ideal information management system.
After joining forces with my co-founder, an experienced computer programmer, we pooled our expertise to create a revolutionary information management system for contractors in 1995 called ProfiTrack.
In the year 2000 ProfiTrack was renamed to Contractor's Command Post.
